Do You Have a Best Girlfriend? Someone You Trust?

Women tend to get together to talk about personal things. It’s too bad that men don’t generally do this. They tend to do more active things together. This starts very early when you watch the play of little girls vs. little boys. I wish men felt like they could share personal things with their male friends because it’s a very healthy thing for women to do.

When women come together, even in a ladies bathroom at a restaurant they give off a chemical called Oxytocin. This makes them feel very open and loving, motherly. It feels really good. That’s why we stay so long in the powder room!

Seriously, having a good girlfriend to share your troubles and happiness with can improve your health and your other relationships. It takes the pressure off your partner to have to be everything for you. Of course, partners need to discuss their boundaries for sharing personal information with others.

So what are you waiting for? Call your besty girlfriend and set a date to catch up! Take turns sharing and offering empathy, support, or happiness. You’ll feel so much better after you have a nice visit. Oh, make sure you choose someone whom you trust!
