Happily Ever After…

I attended a rehearsal dinner for my very good friend’s daughter. I was looking at the bride and groom and they both looked so beautiful and hopeful. When the bride’s father and uncle spoke, they reminded the couple to be ready for the harder times in marriage when you have to hang in and work at it. Good advice. So many times the bride and groom think about the wedding and forget about the marriage afterwards.

I highly suggest pre-marital counseling for all couples. There are so many topics to discuss like finances, chores, communication, household tasks, children, intimacy, family of origin beliefs and differences. Why not know what you’re getting into have and have an opportunity to see how it’s all going to work?

Tonight the bride will be beautiful in her gown and the groom will look so handsome in his tux. The beginning of two lives becoming one and yet maintaining their individuality.

When they hit their first bumps they may consider therapy. However, I’m hoping that this couple will have smooth sailing; for a few years at least!
