When a couple calls to schedule an appointment they often ask, “What will couples counseling be like?” It’s a great question. I tell them, “When you first come in I’ll explain about counseling and confidentiality. Then, I’ll ask both of you to tell me what brings you in for counseling and what you hope to achieve here.” I’ll ask about your childhood and your parent’s marriage. That tells so much about you both. Then I’ll ask you both to share one issue that you would like to work on in counseling and then we’ll dig in one issue at a time using healthy communication to resolve it.
Most couples reply, “That’s exactly what we’re looking for! “
You bring it; we’ll solve it. No more pushing issues under the rug until they EXPLODE!
Bring in your disagreements and discuss them in my office. I’ll watch you discuss it and I’ll interject when I see a better way for you to communicate your message to your partner. You want your partner to really hear you and you both want to learn how to be a good listener.
Through real time lessons you’ll leave with the tools to begin managing your relationship outside of my office, at home. There’s no moving on until everyone is satisfied in one-way or another. It’s honest and it’s real.
I’ll walk with you in your relationship until you are ready to walk together on your own. Call me and we’ll start… (626) 335-0903
