Most times when couples discuss things and it turns into an argument its because each person is fighting to win and be right. “Mindful Communication” teaches you that there are no right or wrongs. Trying to win is loosing. Trying to understand your partner’s experience of an event is winning because you are gathering important information.
What I also like about “Mindful Communication” is that no one interrupts, the listener can ask for clarification and the speaker can make a request. I find that using the “Mindful Communication Script” helps couples avoid the petty back and forth comments that are usually futile.
